The Home
The Home Our Lady of Sorrows celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2017 is a retirement home for Palestinian seniors in East Jerusalem. About 50 residents of Jerusalem and surrounding areas are welcomed.
Since its creation, poor and isolated people have been welcomed there to be treated and accompanied on the human as well as spiritual and in the respect of the beliefs.
Elderly Christians but also of all faiths live the unity in this peaceful family-size house. Some religious of the diocese are also part of it.
The Daughters of Our Lady of Sorrows, a congregation originally from Tarbes and well known in Lourdes with the hospitality of Marie Saint Frai, continue their mission in the Holy Land to the poorest. Accompanied by a lay director, local staff and volunteers, they could not fulfill their mission without the generosity of their donors.
Since 2012, the Home has benefited from the presence of a community of Charles de Foucault's Sisters, arrived from Gaza following the closing of the borders. There are three of them, who assist the sisters of the Congregation of Our Lady of Sorrows in their functions with the elderly.
